Pool Time

One of the reasons we moved to Belterra was for the fabulous pools and rec center. Anyone that knows me well, knows that I will talk about a pool, lake or beach in just about every conversation. I love the water and so does Miss A. Her daddy talked her into being a little more adventurous this year and going under the mushroom and buckets like a big girl. It is so amazing to watch her increase in confidence and independence in the water just since September. She is growing so fast. Mommy and Daddy can't keep up! If you are looking for us... this is where we are on a daily basis!

Bob Schneider Concert

We live about a stone's throw from a great concert venue Nutty Brown Cafe. Mostly they have Texas Country Concerts which are Chris and my favorite but they have a few Austiny rock bands as well. This is Miss A's favorite restaurant as well because of the parrot, Cheeto & the giant sandbox which allows her to run wild while we eat. One evening we joined Somer and Jeff for an adults only night with a Bob Schneider Concert. Somer and I danced and screamed loudly at Bob and his amazing band and let's just say it ended with Chris and I dancing like crazy people to the tune Elvira. Fun was had by all!

Amy's Baby Shower

My oldest and dearest friend Amy Peavler Smith is pregnant for the 1st time and we both live in the Austin area. I am so happy for her and Mimi & I wanted to throw her a baby shower for her sweet baby on the way, Sydney Plum. Her husband Brad is a chef and she is a masseuse at Lake Austin Spa so we decided to have a co-ed shower to celebrate their excitement and shower them with gifts! Amy and I grew up together on 95th street in Lubbock. We met when I was 3 and Amy was 5 and we were inseparable for many years practically living at each others houses. It is amazing to think that Miss A is 3 and will someday play with Amy's daughter. During the shower, I played special 80's rock music to remind Amy of our crazy past! Brad cooked wonderful goodies for the shower and along with the mimosas and family and friends, it was a great day and we are so ready to meet the new Little Miss Smith!

Crazy days with G-Daddy!

On our last trip to Lubbock, G-Daddy took Ash to ride Thomas the Train. She loves Thomas and watches him on Sprout and PBS often. She also just loves trains and this was a REAL BIG TRAIN not just a mini train at the park or zoo. It was a special Lubbock day of Dirt and Wind but she did not seem to care, she loved the whole event. It was also a big milestone because she is deathly afraid of clowns but as you can see, she talked to a clown, accepted a puppy balloon and shook his hand. She also got to pet goats which is right up there in the top most loved animals for Miss A. I also got to eat at Spankys which I had not done since I was pregnant. YUM!!! Ash is beginning to have her mother's love of hamburgers ~Yikes! We also went to the park and blew bubbles and she has come home and has decided this is her favorite after school activity and our porch is stained to prove it!

She really loved her days with G-Daddy and we love our new web cam conversations which she does waaay better than the phone!

Another exciting time for me personally was that dad went with me to my dissertation proposal at Tech. He met all my professors and part of my cohort and watched me present about my research. Needless to say... he was beaming. Pretty cool!

Miss A Sings on the Potty

I hope no one takes offense to these videos. They are not meant to be vulgar. Ash is only playing on the potty - this is more a show than any action and she is not wiping herself. She likes to use at least a full roll of toilet paper and shove it down in the potty as she sings. It was too priceless not to capture. Here are: The Days of the Week & The Ants Go Marching! If you can't see it in the e-mail, you will have to visit the webpage

Playdates with Evan & Allison

Nothing like being friends for 18 years and watching our kids have such a blast together! Bubbles, books, trucks, ring around the rosy and a goodbye kiss is a wonderful playdate for anyone! It was wonderful to see Allison and Evan and we can't wait to meet Baby Bryson now that he is here! We are very ready for them to come to Austin for some fun! Miss you guys!
