Countrified Housewarming Party

AJ and his older ladies

At the end of April, we had a Welcome to the Country Potluck Party for all of our Austin Amigos! It was great fun to get everyone together, catch up and eat some great Salt Lick Bar-B-Que and homemade goodies (I really want more of those brownies and beef dip).

The kids all played together so well that I actually got to enjoy our friends and the festivities of the evening! I was having such a good time I didn't take many pics and the ones I did take are fuzzy - I am just sure it was my camera not my brain! If anyone has pics send them my way.

It was a cool evening and so only the kiddos broke in the hot tub and pool - we will have to have another gathering for the adults to enjoy the pool. Come see us again soon!

Easter Chicks

As usual these pictures are terribly out of order so start with Easter Sunday morning at the top and work your way back to Good Friday! I am too lazy to think ahead! It was a great weekend!

This Easter was all about Chris wanting Miss A to experience country life through Chickens! He called me during her gymnastics and said: "What do you think about me getting Ash a baby chick for her Easter present?" He went on to convince me it would be low maintence, low cost, fresh eggs, it could live in the fenced garden - no big deal and Ash would love it -ok - 1 baby chick. I had heard that they ate bugs especially scorpions - and we had experienced a scorpion problem as we are in a drought and sure let's try it - Well my sweet darling husband came home with 2 baby chicks and 4 grown chickens. OH MY!

They really have not been too bad except they cannot step 2 inches without pooping! We have kept the babies in a dog carrier and the big ones out in the garden. We experienced tragedy after about a month of having the grown chickens. All 4 were killed by some unknown animal. We tried everything to keep them contained to a certain area at night but it was a definite lesson in country life so Miss A. The picture above and below is Rosa - she loved to be held and Ash was happy to oblige. Our two baby chicks are now practically grown and Chris built them a new coop. She wants to still hold them daily and they dont exactly agree with her plan and she gets scratched regularly! It is really funny to hear her tell people she is not afraid of anything because she is a "Farm girl" - she is really helpful getting them food and water each day. Always an interesting time around here!

Deer at our back feeder - bailey loves to chase them

Bailey is obsessed with the chickens - she cannot rest and must chase them relentlessly but never tries to hurt them

Doesnt everyone swim on Good Friday? I remember when it used to snow in Lubbock on that day!

Bouldin Spring Visit

The Bouldin Family came for a visit Mid- April (yes I am very behind on my blogging) and we filled every second of their stay with Hill Country activities and fun! Ash was beyond excited to have Kaylor and Landon to play with for 3 days! We kicked off the visit running around our Country abode and land. Mary Alice proceeded to inform me that we do not truly understand the meaning of living in the country as we have neighbors and she grew up miles from people but it's country enough for this girl! That evening we went to the Dripping Springs Founders Day Parade and Carnival. As always - a wonderful small town experience! Lee could not believe that a fair/carnival could be clean! The next morning we loaded up to Wimberley for the Butterfly Festival then on to Bee Cave for Gabrielle and EmmyLou's Birthday parties at a jumpy place and then back to the house to swim. Then the best part - a girls evening out for Mary Alice and I! Sunday was full of Ash singing at church, early Easter celebration with Nana and Papa, cooking out and more running around the house and yard. It was wonderful to have them here and I loved getting to snuggle sweet Landon. We wish they lived closer!
