Fall 1st Grade Field Trip

I love that my job allows me to attend all of Ashton's school activities including glorious field trips.Last year we had a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch and the  zoo. Both excursions, I drove my own car and met the crew at the outing. This year, at the urging of my dear husband, I rode the bus with the class. OH MY GOOD LORD, it was awful, truly awful! It made me a nervous wreck to watch all these children jump around and throw themselves all over the bus as of course there are no seat belts. I was sure we were all going to end up with brain injuries and amputated limbs. It only confirmed my decision that Ash will never ever ride the bus to get to school each day. There is no way that a bus driver can control all of the chaos safely! And the noise, oh the noise, it was earthshatteringly loud. I felt so sorry for the teachers and now I understand why my mother always hated field trips as a teacher. I thought she was just being mean and boring but in truth it is the overwhelming responsibility of being in public and making sure that 24 children are safe and accounted for. I was constantly counting heads and trying to stay calm thinking someone would be kidnapped.

This year's field trip was to Zilker park and to the Paramount theater to watch a puppet show. Zilker park was fun though it rained a bit but the Paramount theater was a bunch of hurry up and wait and not the best fit for a group of 6 year olds.  Very formal and slow and well actually maybe it was the adults that were annoyed more than the kiddos. Overall, it was a field trip and somehow I survived.

A few extra pictures taken once we got home safely!
